FIVE goals in a devastating 20-minute spell took Malvern Town to a win against previously unbeaten Stourbridge on Tuesday at Langland Stadium.

MALVERN TOWN 6, STOURBRIDGE 3

Malvern started shakily and goalkeeper Craig Humphries produced two brilliant early saves before Evans responded in the visitors' goal to deny Mark Owen.

For the third game running Town went a goal behind first when the dangerous Heath crossed for Wright to head home in the 19th minute. Malvern then hit a purple patch and scored five times before half-time.

In the 26th minute Phil Preedy and Owen combined well to set up Rik Halion who drove the ball home from 20 yards. Four minutes later Preedy and Mark Shepherd created a chance for Owen and he fired in from 12 yards.

Shepherd then had a spectacular scissors kick attempt saved by Evans before Preedy sent Owen away down the right and fired his return pass into the net to make it 3-1.

Four minutes before the break Andy Chalmers crossed a great ball to Darren Bullock, who rose superbly to power home his header. Right on the stroke of half-time Preedy bemused three defenders before squaring the ball back for Shepherd to clip the ball over the keeper to make it 5-1.

Malvern eased off at the start of the second half and allowed Stourbridge more of the ball and they took advantage in the 70th minute when Heath pulled a goal back.

Shepherd soon restored the advantage when he latched onto a superb through ball from Halion to chip over the keeper but Stourbridge made the score a bit more respectable when Bastable netted following a goalmouth scramble to make it 6-3.
