Banbury 0 Bromsgrove Rovers 4

Errea Southern League Cup

STRIKER Luke Reynolds sealed a fine individual performance by bagging a double, which helped Bromsgrove Rovers book a semi-final spot in the Errea Southern League Cup on Tuesday night.

The powerhouse forward bagged a goal in each half, while Neil Davis and Mark Benbow were also on target, as Rovers bounced back from a heavy loss to Sutton by defeating the Premier Division side at the Spencer Stadium.

Manager Rod Brown dropped Gavin Hurren, Wayne Dyer and Tim Clarke from the side that lost on Saturday and brought in Steve Hillman, Benbow and Lee Evans.

The new strike partnership between Reynolds and Davis also continued to flourish at Banbury.

Reynolds set up the opener in the 31st minute. Benbow collected his cross and coolly chipped the ball over goalkeeper Alan Foster.

The visitors restricted Banbury, but Tommy Kinch rattled Evan's cross bar with a thundering shot a minute before half time.

Rovers though doubled their advantage in the 51st minute when Reynolds cleverly back-headed Matt Johnson's corner past Foster at the near post.

Nine minutes later the lively Davis bagged the goal his bright play deserved when he smashed a half volley into the back of the net.

Reynolds completed the scoring in the 69th minute after Davis set him up.

Banbury were kept at bay by resolute defending, but Evans made a smart save to turn around Andy Baird's goalbound shot in the 78th minute.
