Evesham United 0 (0) Bromsgrove Rovers 5 (2)
Southern League Cup
MATTHEW Barnes-Homer bagged a hat trick as Rovers battered Evesham at Common Road on Tuesday night.
Rovers avenged their Southern League play-off defeat at the hands of Evesham last season with a dominant display.
Striker Ben Porter also bagged a brace to seal a perfect night for manager Jimmy Mullen.
Midfielder Wayne Dyer missed a chance to open the scoring when Evesham goalkeeper Chris Taylor saved his 17th minute penalty.
But that couldn't stem the Rovers' tide and Barnes-Homer lobbed Taylor in the 21st minute after good work by Carl Adams.
Rovers shook off the goalscoring problems that have dogged them all season and Porter made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute with a powerful shot that deflected off an Evesham defender.
Barnes-Homer scored inside the first minute of the second half when he prodded home from close range, after Kevin Banner's cross caused a goalmouth scramble.
Porter added his second in the 77th minute when he beat United's off side trap to score past Taylor.
Barnes-Homer then wrapped up the scoring in the 83rd minute when he curled the ball around Evesham's shell-shocked keeper into the top corner.
