FORMER Worcester prop Neil Lyman was honoured at the annual Rugby Writers' Dinner.
The ex-fireman was given a services to rugby award for his contribution to the game which he retired from last season.
Lyman also played for Moseley and Kidderminster before spending the last 10 years of his career at Sixways, helping them make the Premiership for the first time in 2004.
He won England caps at under 21 level and made 163 league appearances for Worcester, celebrating his testimonial last year.
Lyman said: "I am delighted to have won the award and it was a complete surprise, which made it even more poignant. It was a real honour to be recognised for all those years playing the game I love."
