BROMSGROVE Rovers manager Jimmy Mullen is hoping midfielder Wayne Dyer will ignore attention from other clubs and stay at the Victoria Ground for the rest of the season.

Dyer has become a highly sought after player by a number of Midlands clubs, after his excellent displays for Rovers this season.

The Montserrat international was the subject of a seven-day approach by Rovers' derby rivals Redditch United last week.

Rovers have already fended off an approach by AFC Telford.

However, it may be more difficult to persuade Dyer to stay with a Conference North side interested in him.

Mullen said: "Wayne and I shook hands on him staying the rest of the season no matter who came in for him.

"For me that is a binding deal and I hope it is for Wayne, too.

"He's a good player and has made a real difference since coming here so we do want him to stay."

Mullen and chairman Tom Herbert were set to talk to Dyer today about his situation.

The Rovers boss is also about to open talks with Forest Green Rovers about keeping striker Mark Danks for longer.

The striker, brother of former Rovers hitman Paul, is set to leave when his two-month loan ends next week.

The gifted striker has scored four goals for Rovers and was an integral part of their run to the FA Cup's fourth qualifying round.

Mullen though was hopeful about keeping Danks on.

He said: "I'm going to talk to the club to see what is possible.

"It's down to Mark as well. He feels he's capable of playing at a higher level, so we'll have to see.

Mullen may give a few of the fringe players a chance in tonight's Southern League Cup game at Solihull Borough (7.45pm kick off). Mark Benbow, striker Ben Porter and Jo Williams could all be called up for the game.

Rovers then turn their attentions to their Division One West match at home to Willenhall Town on Saturday (3pm kick off).

After losing to Swindon Supermarine on Saturday Mullen has called for more goals.

He said: "The Willenhall game is a big one. We have to take our chances and finish teams off.

"We can't afford to drop any more points and let the leaders get away."

Rovers are holding a fireworks display on Saturday, November 5. Adults costs £2, children £1 and fmaily ticket £5.
