REGULARS from the Kings Head in Upton raised £447 for the Injured Jockeys Association with a clay pigeon shoot.

Now in its third year, the event originated with Lynne Burke, from Ryall, donating a cup so the pub could hold a fundraising event for the charity.

Her late husband, John, who made history in 1976 by winning both the Grand National and the Cheltenham Gold Cup in the same season, was an injured jockey.

Farmer Martin Hodges allowed 41 regulars to shoot clay pigeons on his land earlier this month, with John Clements providing equipment and advice.

Kings Head landlord Grahame Bunn said: "We had a good day."
