I HAVE just received my Council Tax bill, which has gone up by a very large amount, due to the Government reducing its money to councils. Worcester-shire County Council 4.9%, West Mercia Police 4.9%, Hereford and Worcester Fire Authority 4.9%. The other three - Malvern Hills District Council, Malvern Town Council and Malvern Hills Conservators are not above the rate of inflation of 1.9%.
Like most OAPs, I object strongly to these rises above the inflation rate. We OAPs don't get a rise, everything is passed down to us. It's about time we did something. If we don't they will continue to walk all over us.
What I propose to do is not to pay the above three who are over the 1.9% inflation rate, and reduce their charge to 1.9%.
If enough of us OAPs do this, the council will have to do something, the service we get from them is fairly poor so let's stand up and fight back.
