With reference to Eddie Clark's letter (Your Letters, March 17), I to am not sure which word sums up my feelings to his recent article on the golly issue.
Incredulity, disbelief and likewise anger. I cannot believe that so much fuss is being made of three ordinary toys.
Toys that have been around for years, that our kids grew up with and have always been recognised as such.
Incredulity that he makes so much - no doubt for political purposes - of the entire incident, thus making absolutely certain that any so-called racist aspect comes well and truly to the fore.
Anger that the police should have been involved at all, when there are, as we all know, far, far more important things for them to be getting on with.
But hey, never the mugging of an old lady or the vandalism of somebody's property, let's deal with the priorities.
As for the Bromyard businessmen's "branding" of the town, well, it doesn't beggar belief at all. Far from it.
It's their way of saying how totally ridiculous and asinine the whole sorry situation is, it should never have been an issue in the first place and let's treat it with the contempt and disdain it deserves. Good for them!
What it signals to the black community is absolutely no more than a white-faced china doll would signal to the white community.
For God's sake let's have a return to sanity.
