THE Elms' Girls' U12 hockey side finished their season on a high with a 3-0 victory over Hereford Cathedral School in the county final held at Hereford Leisure Centre.
An important first goal just before half-time, from Jemima Bailey, clearly settled any nerves. Until this point play had gone from end to end with Cathedral's Rene Johnson particularly influential in the middle of the park.
Elms' goalie, Annabel Gething-Lewis, was forced into action on several occasions during this period but, together with the defensive duo of Ella Cripwell and Lucinda Bailey, managed to provide a solid platform at the back.
In the second-half, good passing and movement from Isabella Cardy and Susannah Hunt created a number of scoring opportunities. Two further goals, from Flora Paterson and Harriet Monkley, followed to seal victory.
This success follows a fine performance at the National Prep Schools' Hockey Championships just before half-term. Having topped their group, without conceding a goal, they recorded a 3-0 semi-final victory over the hosts Queenswood, Hertfordshire, followed by a 2-1 victory over Danes Hill, Surrey in the final.
