THE U14s coach was unable to attend this away match on Sunday against Keresley in Coventry so the Malvern female U14's coach Joan Brownhill stepped in at the last minute.

KERESLEY U14s 0, MALVERN U14S 55pts

Despite the change, Malvern were not put off and it was not long before they scored their first try though Francis Edwards, who dodged through the Keresley defence. Edwards then made a great catch from one of Keresleys' kickers and the next try followed from him five minutes later. Sean White converted on both occasions.

Malvern forwards then set up three mauls, two from the half-way line to the five-metre line which allowed flanker Ben Wills to crash over the line, putting even more points on the board.

Centre Will Turner skipped through the Keresley defence and scored the first of his two tries.

At half-time, the coach asked for the squad to apply more pressure and to score a minimum of two more tries.

The team immediately responded, scrum-half Don Smith kicked the ball over the defence and Malvern applied pressure to the full-back, causing him to miss it. An easy steal was made by Dan Smith, who scored under the posts.

Malvern backs fooled the Keresley defence with a dummy and another try was scored, the second by Will Turner.

Malvern captain Andy Brownhill (captain) showed off his skills by sprinting through a gap and rolling off two players. Joe Wilkes then scored a try by taking advantage of another penalty.

Man-of-the-match was Francis Edwards.
