SATURDAY'S trip to Southern League Premier Division title favourites Salisbury City might not be the "home banker" the league table might suggest.

The Wiltshire outfit had managed to scrape together just eight points from seven league matches before Tuesday's 3-1 win at Aylesbury.

Evesham, meanwhile, will enter another crucial contest buoyed by a first win in ten games and likely to start with an unchanged side from the one that defeated Hitchin Town.

Paul West has again moved to strengthen his squad with the addition of Solihull striker Dean Curtis, while the manager is also in pursuit of Redditch midfielder Daire Doyle.

Chad Shepherd serves the second of a two-game ban but Craig Pountney, who along with Joel Skyers has signed loan forms with Stourport, could strengthen the bench after sitting out last weekend because of suspension.

West is hopeful that both Adam Blake and Jamie Bailey will be fully fit, but he is less confident about the prospects of Grant Pinkney overcoming a groin problem.

"I'm getting used to struggle on with a shortage of players," West admitted. "We were up against it last weekend but the win was not just testament to the 11 that were on the pitch but to the young lads on the bench who have shown great desire to become involved."

The Common Road chief revealed that he had

used some "choice words" at half-time and was delighted with the response.

"After starting so well and getting the ball forward quickly, they then thought that they were Barcelona and took chances i the wrong areas," West recalled. "They upped their workrate after half-time and all pulled their weight."

The manager admitted a huge sense of relief when Nathan Vaughan was only given a yellow card.

"I feared the worst because little things like that have worked against us this season ," West said. "I would like to think that all the hard work that has been put in recently has earned us that little break that helped us win the match."
