KIDDERMINSTER Vict-oria Cricket Club's young all-rounder Andrew Siwicki has set his sights on making an impact in the coming Birmingham League premier division season after taking on extra training.
The 19-year-old is rated as a hot prospect for the future and the Worcestershire academy graduate is keen to make his mark as soon as possible.
Siwicki made his first team debut at Chester Road at the age of 13 when a brief taste of the action whet his appetite for top flight Birmingham League cricket.
Since then he has represented England in a trial game in 2004 and played a part in KVCC's promotion success last year.
Head coach Ross Edwards says the teenager is working hard on his batting with an extra training session a week.
"Andy has been working really hard on rotating the strike a little more, especially against the spinners," he said.
"He's been practising both in our nets at Edgbaston and at extra sessions at the cricket centre at Evesham."
COOKLEY will be spruce up their Lea Lane base during the Natwest Cricket Force 2006 scheme on April 8 and 9.
A new wooden sightscreen will be built and painted, while the existing sightscreen will aslo be given a lick of paint.
Work will be carried out to surface a secure storage area helpers will also dig foundations for a new fixed practice net.
The net is being paid for using money received from Sportsmatch and sponsors Morgan and Co Solicitors of Stourbridge.
The secure storage area will house the two sightscreens and also a roll on practice cage which has been bought with a National Lottery Awards for All grant.
Spokesman Richard Matthews said: "It is hoped that as well as giving the Lea Lane club a good spring clean, the two days will also raise the profile of the club and attract new members.
There will be a free barbecue on the Saturday for those taking part along with Natwest Cricket Force goodies.
Work starts at 9am on both days at Cookley playing fields.
