A KIND-hearted organisation has saved a city youth group's summer activities by donating £1,000.
More than 160 members of St Peter's Youth Opportun-ities group faced a gloomy summer when the club ran out of funds.
Now, thanks to the Worcester Lions Club, activities will not have to be cancelled and the group might be able to afford to buy table tennis equipment for the youngsters to use at St Peter's Village Hall, Abbotsbury Court, in St Peter's. Club treasurer Lin Giles said: "It was so unexpected, we were overwhelmed.''
Recently the youth leaders have been working free of charge to ensure that activities continued. Now the club will be able to pay their wages and continue with the scheduled summer activities.
Theresa Walker, of the Worcester branch of Lions Clubs International, said: "We raise a lot of money and felt we needed to put it into the St Peter's community.
''We try to help people and this youth group seemed to be a very worthwhile cause.''
The actions of this club highlight the qualities that the Worcester News is looking for as part of the Pride in Worcestershire campaign.
The campaign aims to show appreciation for all that is good about Worcestershire.
