THE March meeting was given the sad news that Roma Norton, Jetta Reading's mother, had passed away aged 101.

Members were then told about the recent quiz when our team scored 62 points, coming fifth with the top score being 71. There was also information about forthcoming trips. As for the recent skittles match against Bentley Pauncefoot, according to Jean Towler, there was apparently great camaraderie between the teams, but unfortunately we were not the winners!

Speaker, Edwin Shore, gave a spirited account of his 'trip of a lifetime' - with his wife - to India by caravan 13 years ago. Although it was a bit hair-raising in parts, when they broke down several times, with the local natives coming to their aid in Turkey, and in Pakistan.

Beattie Denning was the winner of the competition - a good travel tip. The next meeting is on April 12 at 2.15pm, when the speaker will be Terry Church on 'Village Memories'.
