GOOD sports from Redditch Arrows rolled up their sleeves to show support for the National Blood Service (NBS).

Several members parted with a pint of blood on Friday at St Luke's Memorial Hall in Evesham Road, Headless Cross.

The Arrows, part of the British American Football League, have 59 members.

If they all gave blood the standard three times a year, they would amass 177 donations, enough to keep Worcestershire hospitals supplied with blood for four days.

Arrow's treasurer Toby Rhodes said: "We thought we'd practise what we preach and give a pint of blood to show that anyone can do it.

"Even though we're all busy working, training and playing, we want to show people you can still make time to help save lives."

NBS spokesman Lyndsay Stewart said: "It's great to have support from Redditch Arrows as they can get our message across to many players and supporters.

"They play teams throughout the country from Plymouth to Merseyside so by carrying our message hopefully a few more people will give blood."

Blood donors must be between 17-60, over 7st 12lbs and in general good health.
