FECKENHAM manager Lee Adams says the Midland Combination fixture list will force him to prioritise his side's Challenge Cup semi-final second leg by resting a trio of regulars for next Wednesday's league trip to Coventry Copsewood (ko 7.45pm).
The rearranged fixture comes less than three days before the Millers' cup clash at home to Pershore Town, a tie which is evenly balanced at 1-1 after the first leg.
"I think it was a bit naughty of the league to give us a fixture," said Adams, whose team continued an impressive season with a 2-0 win over Meir KA on Saturday.
"Pershore haven't got a game so I won't be risking any of the lads who are the wrong side of 30, or, in Steve Fergusson's case, the wrong side of 40."
That means Adams will be resting Fergusson, Stuart Douglas and sweeper Ross Knight as his side target a top three finish Adams believes is a realistic aim.
"We've put ourselves into a nice position in the league now," added Adams, "Bridgnorth and Bolehall are still catchable and with Barnt Green starting to wobble I think we can climb as high as third."
A goal from Adam McLoughlan and a Kevin Leggatt penalty ensured a comfortable win for the Millers on Saturday but victory came at a heavy price with Ryan Field ruled out of the Pershore game after badly bruising a toe and straining ligaments. The pacy forward has been told to rest for four to six weeks.
Although Knight became eligible for the decisive Challenge Cup tie, Adams this week learned midfielder Scott Walsh will also be absent through work demands, leaving him praying goal machine Lee Ross will be fit.
The Millers could go fourth on Saturday with a win at eighth-placed Alveston (ko 2.45pm).
