HEAD coach Iain Hall has started his revolution at Bromsgrove RFC by drafting in a fitness expert to get the first team players in super-fit shape.
The headman at the Finstall Park club has also hinted that there will be sweeping changes to the coaching set up at the Boars over the close season.
New fitness coach Richard Scrivener is set to be the first of several new members of the coaching squad to be brought it.
Scrivener's main remit is to focus of the fitness of the first team. Hall has pin-pointed it as one of the many areas that has led to Bromsgrove being bottom of the Midlands Division One this season.
Hall said: "Richard Scrivener is a scientist and a graduate. He knows what he's talking about.
"He's here primarily to sort out the fitness of the first team. Richard'ss got an excellent pedigree.
"In today's modern game, even at this level, fitness has come on considerably. You can't just run around a field and be fit.
"Players in different positions need different type of exercises and need to be fit in lots of ways."
Scrivener comes to Bromsgrove with an excellent pedigree. A graduate of Brunel University and a specialist in high performance physiology. Scrivener has also worked at Northampton Saints with head strength and conditioning coach Tim Exeter.
Premier League
He has also worked at Premier League Fulham Football Club on strength and conditioning.
Hall said: "Richard's professionalism and technical approach to individual player fitness development will be a welcome and innovative approach for the club.
"If players are fitter than they can also come back from injury quicker."
Hall promised he would modernise Bromsgrove's old fashioned coaching structure.
He said: "I'm laying down a coaching structure at the club to take us to a new level.
"I know a lot about rugby but my strength is I bring in the right people and set up a structure that can bring success.
"There are going to be some big changes at the club behind the scenes over the summer."
l Bromsgrove return to action in the Midlands Divison One on Saturday, March 25, when they take on second placed Bedford Athletic (3pm start).
With Bromsgrove bottom of the table Hall was realistic about his team's chances of beating one of the division's pace-setters.
He said: "I don't think we're going to beat Bedford but what we'll do is give them a hard game.
"We're improving with every match and things are coming together.
"Now I don't think we should be frightened of other teams.
"The players just need to concentrate on getting the basics of the game right."
