THE article about alternative recycling in the Advertiser last week mentioned 'substantial savings' if Bromsgrove Council were to drop its collection of garden waste.
Those of us in the Austin Road flats, Charford, do not have green wheelie or even black wheelie bins. Also we do not have blue boxes for bottles or red bins for paper. We have to take our own recycles to Asda or Morrisons' recyle skips. We have to compost our green rubbish at home.
How much are substantial savings? I can imagine it costs a fortune to have all the bin men and their lorries collecting grass etc every other week.
Then they have to take it to Worcester to treat it and rot it down; think of all that petrol they must use.
If the savings are that 'substantial', the council might give back the free car-park passes to the disabled.

Charford.
