Fairfield Villa 2 Polesworth North Warwick 1
(Fairfield Villa won 4-2 on aggregate)
TWO goals in extra-time ensured Villa booked their place in the final of the Presidents' Cup on Saturday.
Polesworth had scored in normal time to make it 2-2 on aggregate but Duncan Tie scored in extra-time.
Walsh then broke Villa's Warwickshire opponents' hearts when he grabbed a winner deep into extra-time.
Joint manager Paul Oakes was full of praise for his players.
He said: "It was a great result really because I had to change things around before the game.
"It's a tribute to the spirit of the players. They had to work really hard but their persistence paid off."
Oakes had been forced to make changes on the morning of the match after Steve McGlenn and Adam Guest pulled out of the squad because of work commitments. Villa will meet the winners of Heather Athletic and Archdale 73 in the final.
The semi-final success also wrapped up a welcome week after results in the Midland Combination Division One went their way. Martin Townsend bagged a late winner as Villa defeated Leamington Hibernian 1-0 last Wednesday.
Meanwhile, leaders Knowle drew 2-2 with Stockingford. This means that Fairfield has three games in hand on Knowle and trail by just two points.
l Villa's Junior Worcestershire Cup final against Archdale 73 has been set for Wednesday, March 29, at Worcester City (7.30pm kick off).
