AT the first meeting in February, a warm welcome was given to Helen Kimberly and Terry Bill, representing Headless Cross Girls and Boys Brigades.
The modern Girls Brigade was formed in 1965 and is a Christian international charity working alongside girls and young woman of every background, ability and culture.
The Boys Brigade was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith in 1883 and started in Glasgow.
In the late 1950s, Headless Cross Methodist Church decided to use the Boys Brigade for its work with young people and the company is still there.
Both girls and boys join in social activities and at their annual summer camp, which this year will be held at the Isle of Wight.
Unfortunately the planned speaker failed to arrive for our second meeting so Beetle Drive was hastily arranged which members thoroughly enjoyed.
