EXCITING opportunities exist for Redditch people wanting to make a splash in youngsters' lives.
Youth Afloat, based at Arrow Valley Countryside Centre, is looking for volunteers of all ages to help with a range of activities.
Responsibilities will include tidying the centre, distributing equipment to youngsters, assisting instructors on the water and helping ensure sessions run safely.
Volunteers will be required to work at the weekends and, during the busier summer months, evenings and weekdays.
Full training will be given on all aspects of the role, including how to care for centre users and people with disabilities. Practical lessons in knot tying and first aid will also be given.
In-house training is available to those wishing to gain national qualifications in sailing, kayaking, powerboating, mountain biking and first aid.
And helpers who are registered with a national or local volunteer scheme can count their experience with Youth Afloat towards a recognised qualification.
A spokesman said: "Volunteers give their time to us because of their love of taking part in water and land activities, their willingness to assist others in the enjoyment of these pursuits and their desire to gain experience."
The organisation restarts its weekly youth club for eight to 15-year-olds from April 5. Membership costs £10 and sessions cost £3. Youngsters will be able to enjoy land and water-based activities.
It is also taking bookings for its holiday schemes, also for eight to 15-year-olds.
