DESPITE a poor first-half performance, Stourport gave an excellent second-half showing to beat higher division Bloxwich 36-8.
Stourport got off to the best possible start with a try in the first minute by number eight Andy Hubbold. Bloxwich responded well and replied with a try of their own before half-time to make it 5-5 at the interval.
Early in the second-half, Bloxwich converted a penalty to take the lead.
The strong wind made kicking a pointless exercise, so the hosts kept the ball alive with fantastic results. They scored five unanswered tries through Rob Phillips, Lee Philp, Jaco Bester, Phil Randell and Andy Gaskill.
Three of the tries were converted by Phillips (one) and Philp (two).
Stourport Seconds put on a show in the second-half to beat Kings Norton Seconds 31-12.
Martin Saunders and Alan Banks scored tries for Stourport in the first-half, but they went into the break two points behind.
Stourport's forwards dominated the second-half and laid the platform for three further tries through Ed Osborn, Steve Griffin and Adam Wyton. Griffin converted all of them.
