KIND residents with time to spare signed up as Oxfam volunteers. The charity held a successful recruitment and coffee morning at the Guildhall, in the High Street. Maureen Cooper, deputy manager of the Mealcheapen store, said: "It went very well and we had lots of people pop in and sign up. It was a general awareness day as well as a chance to talk to people, which you don't always get, because it is often so busy in the shop." On sale were children's toys, clothes and other bric-a-brac, as well as tea, coffee, and tasty home-made cakes. A number of volunteers were recruited on the day and they will soon start work, helping out in the charity's shops throughout Worcester.
