I REFER to your article 'Second snub for statue' (Malvern Gazette, March 3).
I commented once before in Your Letters that in the years I waited each morning for the bus to Hanley Castle Grammar School, there was a horse trough very close to the corner where Mr Moran is requesting permission to erect a statue honouring the founders of Morgan Motor Company.
The Malvern Hills Conservators are quoted as saying "It is not within their remit to give up previous public spaces". But surely a statue commemorating one of probably the two most famous names associated with Malvern would take up no more land than the horse trough did? Also, I seem to remember it is not so long ago that more land was purchased by the Conservators (Holywell Road).
It seems to me the Malvern Hills Conservators have lost the plot.
ROGER MORGAN, (no relation to Morgan Motors), Hill View Close, Malvern.
