A devastated pupil fears she may lose out on a place at university after her artwork went missing on a train.

Bella Ting, of St James's School in West Malvern, is appealing for the return of a suitcase containing her A'Level coursework in art and textiles.

The 18-year-old was returning from a university interview in Bristol this week when the suitcase was lost or stolen somewhere between Worcester Shrub Hill and Great Malvern stations.

The large silver fabric suitcase contained about 100 pieces of artwork in four A3 folders, everything she had to show for two years of hard work.

"The artwork is important because it decides my future," said Bella. "If I don't get it back, then I don't think I can get into university."

Angie Fearnside, head of sixth form at St James's, said Bella, who wants to study fashion, is heartbroken by the loss of her work.

"If it was taken, we imagine that the people who took the case have no use for the work. All we want is to get it back," she said.

The suitcase went missing on Monday at around 3pm.

Bella, who hopes to get into the prestigious St Martin's art college, London, has already had to postpone two interviews because she has no work to show the university interview panel.

If the work is not found, Bella will receive a final A'Level mark based on her teachers' recommendations and work already marked.

However, her folders were a work in progress and she should be using the time leading up to the exams to perfect her pieces.

British Transport Police are investigating the matter. Anyone with information should call them on 0800 405040 quoting incident number 439.
