MAKING good use of the courses planned for the Herefordshire and Worcester-shire Schools Championships, MADO Mini-League Three attracted a larger than usual number of adults.
Junior figures were understandably down as many had already competed in the morning.
The Eastnor park provided a magnificent setting with a grandstand view, particularly of the wicked up hill finish which few managed to complete at a run.
Class leaders are now emerging. The Russell family managed a second victory in succession on the yellow offering a substantial challenge to the Vickers family while James Wilkinson continued to stamp his authority on the orange course. Andy White had a clear victory on the green with local lady Rachel Tuffin having a fine run.
For once, Jason Howell did not have everything his own way on the blue as Tom Horton took two minutes out of him. Tom then helped collect in controls and ran all the way home to Malvern Link.
The league table is also getting interesting but competitors need to remember that anyone who has planned or controlled an event will be credited with the equivalent of their best points at the end of the season. This favours the likes of Lester Hartmann, Tom Horton and Rob Farrington.
There is a bit of a breather before the next event which will be held at Holme Lacy to the south east of Hereford on April 22.
