PHOTOGRAPHERS with an eye for natural detail have been recognised in a county club's competition.

The Worcestershire Camera Club, based in Worcester, held its yearly natural history contest.

Members entered the competition in which they submitted outstanding photos of any natural subject, from birds to bushes, they had taken in the past 12 months.

Bob Tunstall scooped best slide with Male Green Woodpecker and Roy Reeves walked away with best print for his photo of a robin.

The judge on the evening was Norman Prue, a former professional photographer well known for his natural history work. He talked to the Camera Club members and gave helpful advice and guidance.

John Lancaster, a relative newcomer to the club, having joined two and half years ago, said: "The entries get better every year and this year we were very pleased with them.

"Natural history is something that interests a lot of the members. It is surprising how far people go to capture the details like feathers or the eye or a bird."

Mr Lancaster said the popularity of the club is increasing despite people experimenting with digital photography techniques.

The club, founded in 1890 from a cycling club, secured lottery funding last year.

It meets every Tuesday at 7.45 at St Stephen's Church, Droitwich Road, Worcester. For more details, visit www.worcestershirecamera club.co.uk.
