RANGERS entertained second-placed Walsall Wood on Saturday showing five changes to their squad from last week's 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton United.

MALVERN RANGERS 0, WALSALL WOOD 4

The visitors opened the scoring after 15 minutes play when they won the ball in midfield. It was played out to the right where Bruce Lwando gained possession and unleashed a tremendous shot into the far roof of the net, giving keeper Ross Sanders no chance.

To their credit Rangers competed well but created nothing themselves and half-time arrived with the solitary goal deficit.

However, all the hard work of the first-half was totally undone within the opening three minutes of the second-half. After only two minutes Bruce Lwando increased Walsall's advantage close to goal after it looked that either Craig Penney or Ross Sanders would clear and within a minute it was 3-0 when from a right-sided corner, Ashley Wells scored.

Ten minutes before the final whistle the visitors had a goal correctly disallowed for a foul on keeper Ross Sanders. But in the second minute of time added on they scored a fourth goal when an excellent left-wing cross was met by Shaun Charles to complete the scoring.

Rangers failed to create one worthwhile opportunity but against a good side they were well beaten but not humiliated.

Walsall Wood's choice of man-of-the-match was Adam Spencer.

The scheduled league cup fixture at Bridgnorth on the previous Tuesday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and has now been arranged for Tuesday, April 4.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Rangers, sponsored by the Cross Keys Inn, entertain Blackheath Town in a West Midlands division one fixture, kick off 2.45pm, players to meet at the ground 1.30pm.
