LAST Sunday morning saw the Malvern Hills and surrounding area covered in a thick blanket of snow that wreaked havoc with the fixtures in thesoccersite.co.uk Malvern Football League.

Both semi-finals of the President's Cup were called-off and only one league game was played.

Upton, however, only had a light covering and following some hard work by members of Talbot Head, who swept the touchlines and penalty areas clear, the game against Oak Misfits was able to be played.

Talbot were the first to strike after seven minutes when Mark Johnston stole the ball of the Misfits centre-half on the edge of the area and advanced to slot the ball past the keeper. It became 2-0 when David Schooling went on what are now becoming his trademark runs down the right from deep in his own half, before sending in a cross which found Danny Briscoe near the penalty spot and he smashed the ball home.

Oak Misfits tried to hit back but when one of their attacks broke down on the edge of the Talbot Head area, Richard Foley gained possession. He hit a long ball which found the feet of Danny Briscoe just outside the visitors' area and he beat two defenders before slotting the ball home.

Danny Briscoe was also involved in the 4th goal but this time as provider as he swept down the left wing before squaring the ball to David Schooling, who was left with the simple task of tapping the ball home from close range.

Talbot Head completed the scoring with what could be a contender for goal of the season when a clearance from Oak Misfits only found Mike Roberts 35 yards out. He sent in a brilliant half-volley which screamed into the top corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance

Both clubs were to be commended for fulfilling the fixture, which as a result of their victory saw Talbot Head move up from 8th to 5th place.
