Bretforton II 4,
Cirencester 0
A BLUSTERY day saw Bret-forton gain revenge for a def-eat in an earlier clash between Saturday's two combatants.
Kim Barry had the first cha-nce of the match in the early stages only to shoot wide of the goal.
Most of the play went thro-ugh the middle and Deb Slat-ter (pictured) had several good runs and efforts on goal but finishing proved her downfall.
The first goal eventually arrived courtesy of a powerful close-range shot by Lisa Workman that bounced off the foot of the Cirencester goalkeeper on its way into the net.
The second half saw Bretfor-ton consolidate their position and Sophie Corbett doubled the lead after a pass from Kelsey Smith.
Workman's solo effort then made it 3-0 before the visitors pushed forward several times late in the game as Bretforton relaxed.
They won several short corners but they were unable to make them count due to strong defending from Lesley McKi-nnon, Sophie Corbett, Fiona Jordan and Jane Wheeler and a fine diving block from Fiona Lovecy in the home goal.
The final goal came from a short corner pass by Work-man to Sue Sheppard who caught the ball well and hit it superbly to round off a fine display.
McKinnon and Kim Barry were named joint players of the match and the ball was sponsored by E J Payne & sons Builders.
