A BEWDLEY couple had a day to remember when a celebrity chef popped round to cook them a meal.

James Martin, who also starred in Strictly Come Dancing, visited Don and Jean Moore, on Tuesday last week.

As a regular feature on Channel 4's Richard and Judy programme, the chef visits people who have been nominated by family or friends.

Mr and Mrs Moore were chosen because they had been forced to cancel a January visit to Australia to attend their godson's wedding.

Unfortunately, while walking in the Wyre Forest in December, Mrs Moore fell and fractured a bone in her ankle.

A hospital specialist advised her not to fly and the couple had to put off their dream trip.

Mr Moore, 76, said: " We were very disappointed that we couldn't go. Then, a few weeks ago, we were watching Richard and Judy.

"They gave out a phone number and said if you knew anyone who had had an accident or was down in the dumps to ring and leave a message about why they needed cheering up. So I did and I never told my wife."

It was a complete surprise for Mrs Moore when James Martin and a television crew, turned up on the doorstep.

Mr Moore said: "He said he had called in at Harrods 'to pick up this fish for you'. I thought he was never going to cook it here but they brought all the equipment, cutlery and knives - they took over the house."

The chef cooked Seafood Nage with monkfish, lobster tails, salmon and mussels and the couple appeared on the TV programme last Wednesday.

Mr Moore said: "It was such a lovely day and it has cheered her up no end. "

Describing the chef as "gorgeous", Mrs Moore said: "I kept calling him son number two. He walked in as if it was his own house. He was lovely. The food was really good."
