HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The society's biennial quiz in the Baptist Church Room proved to be an entertaining evening with the members matching their brain-power against Ruth Manning's questions. The winning team was Chris Northing, Carolyn Fardon, Jo Wallis and Rosemary Kimpton. Until the final round the contest was closely fought but with the finishing post in sight, the winners managed a final sprint. The competition, a vase of snowdrops, was won by Christine King with Ray Fardon second and Sue Davis third. At the March meeting the speaker is Val Bourne, a writer and journalist, who will speak on Homefield, My Garden. The competition will be a jar of marmalade. The meeting starts at 7.30pm, on March 8 in the Baptist Church Room. The annual show will be on August 26.
