Redditch VC 3,
Evesham Utd Ladies 0
SUNDAY'S trip to in-form Redditch saw United produce a poor performance as the home side stretched their winning sequence to six games.
The visitors almost went behind after seven minutes but they weren't as lucky two minutes later when a lofted shot beat Mandy Upton.
Redditch continued to have the better of the exchanges and made it 2-0 nine minutes before the break.
The home side's front pairing were unsettling the visitors' back four with their direct running and only a couple of saves from Upton prevented United falling further behind at half-time.
Ten minutes into the second period, Amy Summers flashed a shot just over the bar before the visiting goal again led a charmed life when Upton was again left exposed.
However, VC scored a crucial third after 67 minutes when tackling was non-existent in the Evesham rearguard.
United finally found some form in the final ten minutes with Charlene McLoughlin's free-kick being held under the bar and a surging run from Lola Hughes created a chance for Sam Perry who shot narrowly wide.
The losers will hopefully be able to welcome back injured players on Sunday when they entertain Worcester City Reserves in the quarter-final of the League Soccersite Trophy.
The tie kicks off at Common Road at 2pm and extra-time and penalties will be needed if required.
