STAFF at a Kidderminster store are getting into the spirit of World Book Day today by ditching their traditional uniform and dressing up as well-known characters.
Workers at WH Smith Books, in High Street, are taking to the shop floor and assuming the appearance of many children's favourites including Harry Potter, Andy Pandy and SpongeBob SquarePants to read stories to young visitors.
The fearless Scooby Doo is heading into the shop on Saturday from 10am to take part in reading sessions and a Scooby Snack treasure hunt.
Store manager, Chris Stacy, said: "I think it is really important to promote interest in books and get more people reading by doing things that are fun.
"I would like to invite everyone to come along and take part.
"The staff are really looking forward to it and hopefully visitors will not laugh at them too much," he added.
