BROADWATERS residents expressed their concerns for wildlife after seeing oil floating on the surface of a park pond.
Environmental agency officers joined RSPCA inspectors to examine the site where they found oil on the ground earlier this month.
Residents who brought the problem to the inspectors' attention noticed the oil floating on the surface of the pond and a lack of birds in the area.
The inspection found oil in the corner of the pond. It was thought to have come from a car fire, in nearby Springfield Lane, on January 24.
Chris Dunbar, an RSPCA inspector, was one of the people to examine the site but was unable to establish how much oil had leaked into the pond.
He made checks to ensure the birds, including ducks and swans, were safe in the area.
