EVESHAM Men's Firsts picked up a valuable 2-1 win at Old Halesonians and moved five points clear of the Coaching Solutions West Midlands Premier Division bottom two.
Matt Baumber and Seb Seneque dominated midfield for the home side and Stuart Harris played with plenty of attacking purpose from right midfield.
As Evesham dominated possession and territory, chances began to emerge and both Stuart Bearcroft and Martin Husbands posed problems.
From their third short corner of the game, an excellent move saw Seneque set up skipper Steve Miller to open the scoring for Evesham.
Just before half-time, Evesham scored a valuable second goal when Husbands picked up the ball at a short corner and fired an unstoppable shot into the net.
During the second-half, Old Halesonians played like a side with little to lose, throwing men forward and attacking at every opportunity.
Evesham began to defend deeper inviting pressure, and it was no surprise when the home side managed to place the ball past the otherwise excellent Leo Kimbel in goal.
Throughout the season, both teams have struggled to score and this game reflected their fortunes.
Evesham had a couple of half chances near the end to extend their lead but good saves from the home 'keeper thwarted their moves.
