A TALENTED Droitwich schoolboy, who was killed during a motorbike race, is to be honoured by football teams across the county.
Chris Jones died last year after crashing at a race in Lincolnshire. The youngster, from Stoke Prior, near Bromsgrove, was seriously injured at Cadwell Park racetrack, near Louth, when he took part in the 125cc British GP Championship.
Fourteen-year-old Chris, who attended Droitwich Spa High School, was a rising star in his sport.
Now, Lickey End Football Club Under 8s are planning to run a summer tournament for young sides from Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Worcester, Redditch and the surrounding areas. The competition will be based on a World Cup and Champions League format with teams being placed in mini-leagues before a knockout stage begins. Matches will be played seven-a-side, 20 minutes each way, with five minutes' extra time and penalties to decide the winner if necessary.
Teams wanting to take part must pay £20 and can enter as many sides as they wish. All players must be FA registered for the 2005/2006 season and teams will be limited to a maximum of 10 players.

Matches are planned for midweek with a kick-off time of around 6-6.30pm.
