BUSINESSES have handed the Worcester Mayor's Charity Banquet a major boost ahead of the event by donating fantastic prizes.

One of the top donations is a special Trafalgar Bowl from Royal Worcester Porcelain - made from bone china and decorated with four battle scenes.

It is mounted on a unique piece of oak recovered from HMS Victory during restoration.

Also on offer is a £300 dishwasher, £300 worth of Slaters Menswear vouchers, health club membership and free Crowngate parking.

The exhaustive list includes lunch or dinner at local hotels, beauty treatments, cases of champagne, theatre tickers and racecourse tickets to name a few more.

"Having attended this event on previous occasions, I know how enjoyable it always is," said Mayor of Worcester Coun Aubrey Tarbuck.

"I look forward to the tradition of raising thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes and having a wonderful evening spent with wonderful people in a wonderful setting."

The event - supported by the Rotary Club of Worcester - is at Guildhall on Friday, March 17 at 6.30pm.

Tickets priced £40 are available from the mayor's office.

All proceeds from the banquet will be divided between the Worcester Volunteer Centre, the Eye Unit Trust Fund and the Music and Light Appeal, as well as Rotary Club charities.
