I WRITE in connection with Stephen Clee's comments regarding the proposals concerning the Wyre Forest Primary Care Trust.
He ends his letter by stating that Option 2 , for a Worcestershire PCT, would be supported if there were to be a change to the status quo.
It is a pity that he and more of his colleagues were not present at the very well attended consultation meeting arranged by the Strategic Health Authority in Kidderminster Town Hall on February 8.
If he had been there, he would have been left in no doubt about not just the strength of feeling but the reasons why the people of Kidderminster want to retain our own PCT.
Principally, the existing arrangements have only been in for two years and they have been working very well. If we move to a single PCT, we would lose the patient focus for Wyre Forest that we have at present.
The panel, attempting to justify the change, mentioned the entirely spurious argument of co-terminosity.
The Wyre Forest PCT is already co-terminous with other organisations in the county!
Why change something that is working well and, what is more important, serving the needs of Wyre Forest residents better than a single organisation ever could.
I would urge Mr Clee to think again and to join in the fight to save our PCT.
