I RECENTLY spoke to schoolchildren on being evacuated from Smethwick to Kidderminster in September 1939.
It occurred to me that it would be of interest to trace any Kidderminster people who recall having had an evacuee from Smethwick, and record their memories.
I am a member of Smethwick History Heritage Group and, along with our recorded memories, our evacuation booklet creates much interest.
My personal interest is to try to find out if there are any pictures or information about my brothers and myself. We were under the supervision of Mrs Davies, of 78 Coventry Street, Kidderminster.
I have passed the area at times and know that hoardings have now replaced the site. It was a sweetshop/caf.
My only evidence now is a postcard received from an uncle in North Wales.
