Evesham U-14 15pts, Bredon 5
THE home side started in determined mood and the forwards, led by Josh Greatrix, camped themselves in the Bredon half for the opening ten minutes.
Evesham's normal forward supremacy was cancelled out by a spirited visiting pack that put the home scrum under considerable pressure.
However, the pack of Russell Boyles, Calum Lance, Mike Gander, Ian Sime, Mike Ibbot-son, Matt Power and player of the match Anthony Watts stuck to their task well.
Midway through the first half, Bredon managed to break through the home defence to run in a well-worked try in the corner.
The home side then set about rebuilding and set up some fine moves through James Ingleby, James Davies, Tom Davies and Sam Hopkins but they were denied a reply.
It was left to captain Matt Phillips to conjure up some of his magic as the first half drew to a close.
It was his sheer persistence in chasing a loose ball that created panic in the Bredon defence and he seized on a loose ball and ran in under the posts to give Davis an easy conversion and 7-5 lead.
Jamie Fisher, Adam Meadows, Luca Grillo, Tom Singleton-Wells and Henry Appleby joined the fray for the second half and the visitors took advantage of the changes.
The home side were under the cosh for long periods and only determined and resolute defence by the Avonsiders kept their counterparts at bay.
Both sides sensed victory and, with only seconds remaining, Evesham ran the ball, passing along the line for Clarke to cut in and slice through the defe-nce and touch down for Davis to again add the extras.
