Tewkesbury 42pts, Evesham U-12 10

EVESHAM, as usual, were slow to start that led to a couple of early scores that served as a wake-up call to the Avon street side.

Good scrummaging and loose play from the forwards including Zak Bailey, Peter Johnson, Jordan Nobes and Thomas Mansfield saw Evesham win good ball but a combination of the ball being released slowly and a lack of straight running saw Evesham only make moderate gains in the first period.

They continued to grow in confidence, however, and threatened to score through good breaks, once when Andrew Toms broke down the left but he was unable to offload to winger Edward Worthington.

Kain Edwards-Adams also made several good breaks but again he was unable to deliver the final pass. Tewkesbury continued to threaten but good support and cleaning up by player of the match Tom Hemming helped to limit the hosts to one further score.

The second period of play saw a reshuffled Evesham ensure everyone got a game and they started to win more line-out ball helped by the addition of Clint Smith and Andrew Hemming in the forwards.

Good tackling prevented Tewkesbury from scoring any further tries in this period and Evesham continued to win good ball that enabled scrum-half Stuart Rock to feed the ball to Rob Elliott who broke through the defence from halfway and score both his side's tries.

Evesham continued to put up a good performance in the third and final period but were unable to prevent a further three scores from Tewkesbury.
