THE final match in the Ham-pton Ferry Teams Winter Lea-gue took place last Saturday.
Six of the results from the seven-match competition count with the winning team invited to fish the Midland Angler Teams Championships at this year's Evesham Festival.
The series was hugely successful despite some of the coldest conditions for many years and last weekend's was no exception!
On a bitterly cold day with a biting east wind, Rob Middleton on loan to Daiwa Gordon Lea-gue from Starlets, proved once again his skill as a river angler by taking to the scales five bream, some roach and skimmers for a total weight of 27lbs 10 ounces off Ferry peg 16 on the Ferry and all caught with bread on pole and lead.
Shakespeare's Jamie Robbins (7-11-0) was second off peg 4 on the Town.
The overall individual winner was W B Clarke team man Steve Ashmore with 54
Points who earned an invite to the August Bank Holiday extra-vaganza.
Other weights: 3 Terry Girdlestone (Foxmatch) 5.8.0, T12); 4 Steve Hayes (Foxmatch) 5.7.0 (F6).
The winning team on the day, and overall winners, was W B Clarke with 43 points six ahead of closest rivals Foxmatch with Shakespeare in third with 34.
