OVER the last two weekends this year's County Championships, got underway, in the form of long-distance swims, which were held at Hereford.
On February 19, Wyre Forest Swimming Club members who have achieved county times took part in the 800m freestyle event.
Among the competitors were Josh Bradley, Jack Barnett and Alex Thorley swam in the 12-years group. Bradley came seventh, Barnett eighth and Thorley 10th.
Also representing the club, Rob Smith was runner up in the 14 years group, and Paul Ingenthron came fifth in the 15 years category.
Emily Lane was fourth in the 13 years group.
On February four members competed in the 1,500 metres, where Lane again came fourth, knocking nine seconds off her previous best time, and gaining her first district time.
Barnett missed his district time by just two seconds, but beat his personal best by more than a minute.
Ingenthron came fifth, while Smith again was runner-up.
