MATT Russell grabbed a hat trick as Bromsgrove maintained their winning form in the Coaching Solutions West Midlands Division One on Saturday.

The forward's second half hat trick completed a dominant performance.

Victory also kept alive the team's chances of catching third placed West Bromwich.

Captain Julian Court said: "It was a hard game in some ways.

"Old Sils came out and dominated the first 15 minutes. But once we weathered the storm we were a lot better.

"In the second half they kept coming at us and that allowed us to hit them on the break.

"Overall it was a good performance and the team did very well."

Peter Hull maintained his excellent scoring record when he grabbed his18th and 19th goals of the season to put him seventh in the division's goal scoring charts.

He pounced at a short corner for his first goal of the game and completed a flowing move to add a second just before half time.

The two goal advantage allowed Bromsgrove to sit back and absorb the pressure and hit Old Sils on the break.

Russell grabbed the goals to make him Bromsgrove's second top scorer with nine this season.

Old Sils grabbed a consolation effort in the game's final minutes.

Court said: "Old Sils came out looking for goals in the second half but that allowed us to score the goals."

Bromsgrove face another stiff test on Saturday, March 4 when they take on second placed Old Wulfrunians at Trinity High School in Redditch.

In-form Boars will be hoping to beat a top three side for the first time this season.

However, they will have to beware the division's top scorer, Tom Pickersgill, who has bagged 33 goals so far this season.

Court said: "Old Wulfs have been playing well all season and they will be a big test for us.

"But we've got a good run together and go in full of confidence."
