STOURPORT Swifts host Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday knowing they must start converting chances and finish teams off to stay in the Southern Football League Division One West.
Swifts were held to a goalless draw by visitors Swindon Supermarine on Saturday but had enough opportunities to have had the points in the bag by the interval.
Andy Burgess, Shaun Findlay and Nick Turton all missed good chances to hand the Walshes Meadow side the lead against a Wiltshire side looking for their first win in five league games.
Burgess was first to squander a good chance when, on the half-hour, he broke clear of the Swindon defence only to miss the target with his shot.
Six minutes it was Findlay who let the visitors off the hook, his shot being blocked the by the keeper's legs.
Swifts netted four at high-flying Willenhall last week but Burgess sent another chance wide of the target before half-time and then his attempted chip soon after the restart landed in the keeper's arms.
Craig Ladek made a solid return to the side in place of the absent Eric Pudaloff and he produced a fine save on the hour to keep the scores level.
But the game finished with Swifts back on the offensive and Burgess was denied by an outstanding save from in front of goal while recent addition Nick Turton was guilty of missing with a close range header.
Swifts: Ladek 8, Dodd 7, Robinson 7, Jenkins 7, Harvey 7, Webb 7, Turton 7, Findlay 6, A Burgess 6, R Burgess 6 (Rencher 79), Hands 6. Subs (not used): Sherwood, Yeend, Paskin, Gray.
