WORCESTER MP Mike Foster wants people to think about doing more to help combat climate change - including growing fruit and vegetables.
He said growing food in the back garden rather than going to the shops would reduce carbon dioxide, which in turn helps the environment. He also said walking around Worcester - rather than taking the car - and turning the heating down in the house would make an enormous contribution if the whole city did it.
"Climate change is a serious challenge, and there is no single action we can take to prevent it," he said.
"But there are lots of ways you can make a contribution, such as walking more, growing your own fruit and vegetables and turning the heating down in the home.
"Climate change is something we should all work towards preventing."
The MP met Worcester Friends of the Earth campaigners last week to discuss what he is doing in Parliament to help promote the topic.
He said: "I will continue to press the Government for changes to force builders of new homes to provide for renewable energy by installing solar panels, photoelectric cells and a high- specification of insulation."
