Bromsgrove 2nd XV 17 Bridgnorth 2nd XV 29
SPIRITED Bromsgrove produced a second half fight back, but were shot down by Bridgnorth at Finstall Park on Saturday.
The Boars met their match against a side captained by former Finstall player Ross Baxter.
The visitors played into a blustery wind in the first half and took the game to Bromsgrove.
From a scrum ten-yards out from Bromsgrove's try line Bridgnorth broke and Lawrence Davis touched down for a converted effort to go 7-0 up.
Bromsgrove found themselves 12-0 down when Davis breached the home defence and touched down.
A third try of the half left Bromsgrove trailing 17-0 at half time.
The hosts came out fighting in the second half and used the wind to force Bridgnorth back into their own half.
Bromsgrove were camped in their opponent's half and Paul Thomas showed quick thinking at a tap penalty to score a try, which he then converted.
Fly half Tim Hall then grabbed a second try, which he converted, to make it 17-14 and leave the match in the balance.
However, Bromsgrove were rocked when the visitors pounced on a stray pass to make it 22-14. Bromsgrove scored a penalty but a final try by Bridgnorth killed the home side's chances of a win.
