Should Christians unite to protest about Jerry Springer: The Opera as Neil Bennett suggests (Letters, February 15)?

One of the benefits of living in Britain is the freedom granted to each individual to practise his religion in accordance with his conscience, whether Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Muslim or Hindu.

The price for this freedom is that the same right is accorded to those who deny and even disparage faith.

I have never seen, nor do I wish to see Jerry Springer: The Opera. My 'protest' is my denial of custom; and for a commercial venture this may even hit where it hurts.

But having never seen the show, I am not well-placed to object to its content. I am, however, comforted by the knowledge confirmed by my Bible-centred beliefs, namely that vengeance belongs to God, and not to men (Romans 12:19). This is a great truth that members of all religious faiths should acknowledge.
