Fairfield Villa 2 Littleton 1

VILLA booked their place in the next round of the Presidents' Cup by edging out Littleton on Saturday and set up hopes of a treble this season.IN FLIGHT:A Fairfield Villa player advances during Saturday's win over Littleton.

Victory avenged Fairfield's heavy defeat to Littleton in December and kept them on course for silverware this campaign.

With interests in the Midland Combination Division One and the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup Villa are on course for a remarkable end to the season.

Manager Paul Oakes said: "We always thought we would do well in the cup competitions this season.

"The players want to play in every game and are all really up for it at the moment."

Fairfield coped better with the blustery wind conditions at the Recreation Ground and controlled the game.

Normally reliable striker Stuart Hall missed several chances but Kelvin Daley's 25-yard blockbuster made sure that Villa went in 1-0 up at half time.

Villa stepped up a gear in the second half and pummelled Littleton, but strikers Hall and Spencer Kenwood both missed chances to extend Fairfield's lead.

However, Hall was on hand to score a penalty after Kenwood was brought down in the box by Littleton's goalkeeper. Littleton bagged a late goal but it was not enough to knock Fairfield off the glittering trail to some silverware.
